Friday Finishes

I have been practicing on my longarm using two different threads, i.e. one color on the top and a different color on the bottom.  It takes patience and I have found it works best if using the same brand thread on the top and bottom.

These are charity quilts for the Covered Bridge Quilt Guild.  I used Geranium Red on the top and an off-white on the back.  The edge to edge pattern is called Curly Cue.

This one (below) I used a dusty blue on top which just disappeared and off-white on the back.  Originally, when I started quilting this quilt, I had tension issues too great to tear out on the machine.  So I took it off the longarm, removed all the stitching and reloaded it to start over.  It may have been a charity quilt, but its a calling card for my work and I try to put my best work out there.

Yesterday, I got a call from my friend, Sue.  Her son is fighting a battle against Hodgkin's Lymphoma.  She made him a quilt to use during his chemo treatments.  We met in LaSalle/Peru Wednesday and I loaded the quilt Thursday.  I said a prayer asking God to help get this one done smoothly.I finished it and made the label on the computer after dinner. On Friday, Sue and her husband will be heading to Rockford to visit their son and help with the grandchildren on chemo treatment day.  I am honored that I could help them get this quilt finished quickly.  Praying for the son's recovery.
I used Slate Blue Quilter's Choice thread.  The quilting pattern is Ocean Froth by Anne Bright.com.
Below, my hubby is standing on a chair holding up the quilt (53" x 83") for a picture.  Thanks, honey!

I have linked up with the following Linky Parties today...Confessions of a Fabric AddictLink a Finish FridayFreedom Fridays, and Crazy Mom Quilts.  Please check out the other blogs through the links above.  A quilt I quilted is featured on Confessions of a Fabric Addict today.
Thank you Sarah, for featuring this quilt.

Have a great weekend!  Saturday I will be driving to Pieceful Gathering in Fox River Grove, IL, to teach beginning machine quilting.

Yours in quilting,
