Working on Wednesday - Prepping for Retreat

So, what are we all working on today?  I wish you could all just talk back to me and we could have a group conversation.  Today we are expecting a heat wave of 23 degrees compared to our record setting -21 below yesterday.

 The feedback was so overwhelming and I feel so lucky to have had the enormous amount of viewers and have tripled my followers.  Special thanks goes out to Bonnie Hunter for sharing my story on her blog.  Also, thank you to Bernice and Kathy for allowing me to share in their story.

Today I am organizing and preparing for a quilting retreat at our church.  We will be sewing Thursday, Friday and Saturday in our family life center.  The beautiful thing about this large room is all the walls are carpeted so that makes every wall a design wall.

So I am kitting up my projects for the retreat.  In between sewing rows together on the 11 yr old wedding quilt I will use other block pieces as leaders and enders.  I am working on the 2014 Country Threads BOM (all from scraps in my stash).  My color choices for the 6" block for February are:

The majority of the fabrics are old Thimbleberry fabrics from my sample making days.

After making my color choices, I put the fabric for each block in a small baggie along with the pattern.  The two blocks for February are then stored in one large baggie for transport.

 

Here is January's blocks.  I just have to sew the large block together.  At least all the pieces are all together and I can just pull the bag out and be ready to go.

 

It really works best if you can have all the pieces cut before you go to the retreat.  Things really go together fast if you can just sit down and sew. 

 

This is my "Go To Bag".  It sits on my sewing table by my machine all the time.  It has most of my everyday necessities for sewing in it.  When going to a retreat, I add my small rulers and anything else that will fit in it.  It is a scapbooking bag but works equally well for quilters.

So, I am headed down to the longarm to try and finish a quilt.  Hope you are having a "warm-up" Wednesday!

Found this cute little comment:  Sunday after church, a Mom asked her very young daughter what the lesson was about.  The daughter answered, "Don't be scared, you'll get your quilt."  Needless to say, the Mom was perplexed.  Later in the day, the pastor stopped by for tea and the Mom asked him what that morning's Sunday school lesson was about.  He said "Be not afraid, thy comforter is coming."
